A building that started out its life as a garage early in the last century, was unsympathetically stuccoed and made into a corner grocery store. Owned and operated by Mr. W. Chow and his family, the building was eventually divided in two and for a short time, the eastern half was a photography studio.

Once the photographer moved, the space was enlarged by taking up some of the space of the still remaining grocery store and a magical bookstore was created to the delight of hundreds of people. It sold not only books but antiques, collectibles, and artwork and it hosted seminars, talks and workshops. The coffee was always hot.
